Cookie policy
This website uses only technically necessary cookies. They remember your language and country choice, keep you signed in when you use an account and store your display setting. There are no advertising or tracking cookies, and we pass no cookie data to third parties.
Which cookies we set
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| pah_edition | Your explicit choice of language or country (language switcher, country row, banner). | 1 year |
| pah_geo | The country you are visiting from (country code only, no IP address), for the hint to the matching version. | 1 day |
| payload-token | Your sign-in when you use an account (saved articles, comments). | Session, or until you sign out |
| theme | Your choice between the light and the dark design. | Permanent, until you change it |
Push notifications in your browser
Only while we offer notifications: the website keeps the number of your visits and your answer to the browser’s question about notifications in your browser’s local storage (pah-push-ask, plus pah-push-asked until you close the tab) – so that you are not asked on your first visit, after closing the question at the earliest 7 days later, and never again after “Block”. Only once you have allowed notifications does the website store a service worker (/push-sw.js) and the entries pah-push (local storage) and pah-push-state (the service worker’s cache storage): the ID of your subscription and the key to your settings. You remove both with “Unsubscribe from all notifications” or by deleting the website data; details in the privacy policy.
Statistics without cookies
For our reach statistics we count page views without cookies and without storing your IP address. Details are in the privacy policy.
Deleting or blocking cookies
You can delete or block cookies at any time in your browser settings. Without the cookies listed, the website will not remember your language and country choice and signing in is not possible; all content remains accessible.
